Get Ahead: Wills and Estate Planning

If you have real estate, debt, savings, and possessions of value, you’ll want to have a plan for what eventually happens to it all. Remember, accidents happen, and so do unexpected health crises (and then there is surely old age). Some accounts or possessions may not be designated to a loved one — and it would be a shame for these not to go to them. You don’t want them to face a long legal obstacle after you pass, working through courts and dealing with these stressors in addition to the grief instead of benefiting from your assets.

It is a responsibility we have to get these things in order! While doing it now may not be on the forefront of your mind, it’s best to do these things in health and in preparation for any unexpected emergencies, or when you’re not as clear in mind or body. If not now, then when?

Surely it’s not something we look forward to doing, but it’s something we need to do. Your loved ones will thank you for it.
