Three Things To Expect After Filing For Divorce

What is the process once you or your attorney have officially filed your Petition for Divorce or Legal Separation?

It is smart to know the expectations and timeline as it relates to getting a divorce in Colorado. Other states will have similar steps, but timelines may differ. Generally,

1. The Automatic Temporary Injunction (This applies to both parties and is set as the modus operandi until the court issues more orders.)

2. The Case Management Order (this describes expectations, discovery requirements and deadlines, and other divorce requirements.)

3. Your Timeline (in Colorado, a court must wait a minimum of 91 days after the Petition has been filed.)

As always, we encourage you to seek counsel and representation if you are considering embarking upon the process of getting a divorce.
